About Our Volunteer Program
Volunteers are an integral part of the Audubon Center and we offer a variety of programs that are sure to create memorable experiences. Your generous donation of time and expertise helps educate the public and preserve and enhance the unique natural resources of Wildcat Park and the area. The volunteer program is open to individuals age 16 or older who are interested in nature education and natural history. No experience is needed, as all volunteers will attend a required training program about the center and its educational programs, as well as individual training for specific roles. Once you become a volunteer you can assist in all facets of running the center. Giving a minimum of 40 hours a year, volunteers work indoors or out, with the public or behind the scenes. They provide critical support at special events, assist the public visiting the nature center and help maintain the animals and exhibits. Most importantly, they have a special desire to connect people to nature. |

About Wildcat Park and The Audubon Center
The Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center is a partnership project of Audubon Missouri, the City of Joplin and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Our goal is to provide children and adults with nature-related educational programs and outdoor experiences through a sustainably developed nature center facility, site amenities, and system of trails. Containing some of the areas most unique natural resources, Wildcat Park serves as a living laboratory to use in implementing conservation education programs. The 10,400 sq. ft. Audubon Center features classrooms and a seminar hall for school and community use, interactive exhibits, a spectacular aquarium and terraria complex with live animals, and a network of trails and outdoor learning stations. |
